Need Purchase Advice: Basic Set of 4x4 ND Filters.

[michael zaletel]

Received my redrockmicro microMatteBox bundle and need to buy a set of ND filters. Any buying advice (brand, price and store) would be greatly appreciated. Also, why does the microMatteBox say 4x4 on one side and 4x5.65 on the other?

Thanks,

-shooter

I recommend the Formatt filter package from Abel. They have a special group buy going on at the moment.

Get 4x5.6" filters.

Some good manufacturers are: B+W, Formatt, Schneider, Tiffen. (In alphabetical order)

If you want a basic kit, the Redrock MicroFilters set is nice. (You'll soon want more.)

If you want "everything", the Formatt kit from Abel looks like a good deal.

Any other lower-cost options? In particular, any lower-cost sets?

Cavision has some low cost low quality sets.

Get 4x5.6 and you may want a set including 1.2 and maybe even 1.5 and 1.8. Get Pola also.
