Alright guys, I need some wisdom.
I'm going to be buying a O'connor 1030hds in the next few weeks-
I have the 19mm RR mattebox and have been shooting mostly with Red 18-50.

What do I need to make it secure enough for my Red?

I have looked at many photos with setups using the 1030 and I can't figure out everything they are using.
I am very grateful to the knowledge on this site and hoping some of you experienced redusers will help a less experienced brother out :help:

Not sure if you are just asking about sticks but, the Element Technica base plate and their 1030 dovetail would be good.

My $.02 would be to not get the European plate that typically comes with the 1030HDS head, but rather get the ET dovetail and baseplate as mentioned above. It's a great combination and rock solid.

Thanks guys, yeah- the ET dovetail is what I,ve been looking at, but I wasn't sure if I had to ditch Red's entire rod system for the Arri baseplate or not? I want it to be solid for sure.

So is this right?
1. Ditch the Red Bottom Plate
2. Get ET's 1030 dovetail & the Arri 19mm Baseplate
3. Mount camera and be happy

Do I need anything else? (Sticks are gonna be 25L)

Yeah we were a long time ago. Obviously the cheapest wide angle solution right now is Nikon mount, but I am not interested in switching from PL to Nikon in the middle of the shoot. I hope we see some moderately priced PL options in the near future. I briefly used an older zeiss 14mm which I liked, but I would like something in the 10-12mm range, rectilinear of course. Also, looking forward to the Red primes.

Yep, me too. I do not want to switch mounts- hoping for IMS or Red's own solution to using different types of lenses.
Thanks for all your help!
