Hello Guys,

I just got my impero controller and birger mount back, i had sent it to birger for a control before using it on my RED ONE MX. Now i got it back and connected everything as stated in the video from I think Kelly...RED 101. Even the idata cable is good connected but i still wont get any lens data sent to the display. I need this for seeing the aperture without having to use a 5D...and for collimating the best possible.

I try to connect the mount and impero to my mac. I do following steps. --> System settings --> setup new device --> Birger xxxxx comes. I choose it and put my serial in --> it says connected then paired Yes but when i check it on my bluetooth devices it say CONNECTED NO...
Afterwards when I try to connect the impero I see --> System settings --> setup new device --> Impero_XMTR --> i choose it and it asks for a password i put my serial but it wont accept it this time.
I need to connect it to check the firmware and if possible make an update. I need to get this working ASAP!!

My red doesnt have any warranty anymore thats why i connected it.
thanks for your help...

Good luck on that, I was never able to get lens info from my Birger mount. You will need to count the stops from wide open. 1/3rd stop per button push. I have actually pretty much given up trying to get anything out of Eric at this point. I think red changed their lens communication protocol several times and Eric never stayed on top of those changes. At this point I think he is totally sick of the whole red / birger thing and wouldn't expect much from him. FYI he was extremely rude to me at NAB and basically said that because a few of my posts were critical of his product (I have never been satisfied with the impero) to F*** off. This I had already figured out based on his many false promises for a replacement. Shame really, both because I have a nice piece of change tied up in it, and because I think the premise still has enormous potential.

I'm waiting for what Red has in store for us, nice to do business with a company that cares about its customers.

The lens data is up and down on our Birger. Only rarely am I able to get the focus distance to work properly, but most of the time the aperture setting does work, although not always.

Good luck in your quest.

Hi guys thanks for your reply.

I have to say the support from Erik isnt that bad for now, i mean it took a while for me to get my "repaired" birger back because of many problems, but now i got it and he helped me on the phone yesterday.
I can live without having the lens data (even though its pretty uncool without, counting apertures isnt that fun) but now my bigger problem is the colimation...without the lens data is pretty hard to get it colimated adequately, the lens barrel isnt very precise for this kind of things...

any suggestions?
thanks

Have you checked the correct settings in the RED camera? You have to make sure the camera is displaying the cooke i data (which with the Birger is actually Canon lens data). It definitely helps with collimation!!

Good news people, after many tests to get the Lens data info, I started to do a manual collimation, i got it to a point where it was almost mm exactly. After doing this the lens data just showed up with all canon lenses I had...

This means now is everything working great and my shoot can start this saturday without any delays or problems...this is awesome.

thanks to all for helps and tips.
have a nice weekend soon...

That is very good news, indeed!
