Firs of all sorry :) for placing topic in not right place .
But i have huge problems with RedCine , or may be with Crimson .

I have 2 hour movie cut in FC with M proxies , and now i want to render
out all this footage out from RedCine.

My Steps .

1. Exporting XML Full 2 Hours
2. Making Intermedia Files in Crimson .
3. Making RedCine XML
4. Load All Shoots(Intermedia ) to redcine .
5. Open RedCine XML in RECINE -------- Problem is with this step .

When i am trying to open XLM or add additional shoot in RedCine , in
Browser menu of REDCINE , i can se only My Drives Name and when i
select my Drive next tree of file structur is disable , sow i can not select
folder or even se what is inside this drive. (OPEN , SAVE , LOAD SHOOT
, LOAD ALL SHOOT . All of this functions are not working )

After long night i found that if i will take only 20 minutes XML from
FC , everything is working fine . And then i found that on next time i
can get only 15 minutes of footage . Now i have problems because i can
not get even 10 minutes .

1. RedCine folder from Library (Removed )
2. Crimson (Reinstalled )
3. Crimson (Last Versioan )
4. FC (LAST ) , But i have same problem with older versions .
5. OS (LAST ) , But i have same problem with older versions .

Please any Ideas , i don't now what to do .
Also , i need to finish it in RedCine , i now that i can send proxies
to color , and then render out , but i have no time to do it , 1 Hour
of footage is done .
Thanks.

Hi,

Can you let us know which platform you are running this on? Mac? Windows? Which version of the OS? How much memory and which graphics card?

Can you attach the Redcine log file that is under settings\logs in the library folder?

How many edits do you have in a typical 10 minute section? I have found that Redcine/Crimson is more dependent on the number of edits vs actual time. About a hundred cuts or show is the limit of where I feel reliable.

Rob, this is the same error that I reported here, with logs, construct, etc (which got no response):
http://reduser.net/forum/showpost.php?p=338058&postcount=122

And was also reported here by Rivai (also got no response):
http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=23496

EDIT: My guess is it's related to the other error in REDCINE which has been floating around for months where it doesn't import all the shots you specified?

Thanks Bruce , I need to found any way to do it today. Can you tell me what i can do , can i load XML and then Load All shoots . ?
Any Ideas.

Vigen there are nasty bugs in REDCINE which have been reported months ago and haven't been fixed (or even officially acknowledged in the REDCINE bug list that goes with the release notes). It's not production-ready. RED will probably be pissed at me for saying this.

If you *need* to get your movie done, use another system. Or do it in tiny chunks.

For personal projects without deadlines, try doing things in a different order. Try importing different groups of shots, try very short reels, etc.

Also, if you are on 3.1.5 try uninstalling completely and installing 3.1.2. I had a project made in 3.1.5 that just started crashing REDCINE every time you tried to load it, but when I loaded it into 3.1.2, it worked.

Also, have you tried loading the XML first (in a clean project)? What happens?

Yes i try to load XML first , and it is ok , but when i load XML first and then load shoots it dose not work , INs and OUTs are not right.

I will try now with 3.1.2
Thanks.

Vigen what's wrong with loading XML first then? Because you lose color data?

That's why I keep asking RED to include color data in the XML files. That would be simplest easiest way to fix the problem.

Or else they could fix the existing bugs.

Or they could let me post my program which transfers color data.

I you want, post this:
1. 10-minute .xml file from crimson
2. your original dailies redcine file (with your color data)

And I will try to import into redcine and run my color grade copier program on it tomorrow morning (busy on a shoot tonight).

It has lots of bugs still of course - so I'd say chance of success is 10%, sorry...

Vigen,
Yes, keep it under around 100, and that includes elements stacked-up on additional tracks. Clean up your timeline as much as possible, get rid of texts, material not to be corrected, etc. Use dissolves instead of the transparency rubber bands. Also, 'bake' speed changes into self-contained clips with no more speed changes. If you have complex areas of multiple layers, maybe 'bake' them into finished clips. I also delete all audio- you can add it back after Color. For Color, think simple, simple simple! Make that XML clean and simple. Then it is very happy and very powerful.
