Need Advice with Audio Technica Mics

Hi All,

This is the first time posting in audio section excuse me if this doesn't suite this thread or forum site, however if someone out there kindly tell me if Audio Technica BP4029 worth getting for field / short scene (conversation) with a Tascam field recorder combo? Any thoughts on this Mic. vs another one, My budget is approx $1200 for both the field mixer/recorder and the shotgun microphone.

bottom line looking to get best sound of a combo please advice

That's a very small budget bud. I don't have experience with Tascam or Audio Technica but a really good professional kit if you can raise your budget a little bit would be used Sound Device 302 with Sennheiser 416T.

302 used should be around $800-$900. You can probably bargain with the seller a little bit because 302 is basically obsolete because of the newer 633. Please note that 302 cannot record, you still need a recorder.

416T (older model that uses 12 volt instead of 48 volt phantom power) seems to run around $500-$600.

This kit is very professional and what a mixer friend of mine is running right now actually. If you don't have the budget for sound may I recommend hiring a beginner mixer with gear or renting?
