Hello Guys,

Another La Cie bites the dust!!!! Can anyone recommend a real quality recovery service???

Thanks,
Prio

This is always a bummer. So sorry. I haven't had personal experience with these guys as I decided to rebuild the drive because of cost, but when I researched this these seemed to be the best option. They offer free diagnostic etc. Contact is:

nick.mack@fields-data-recovery.com

partial content of their email to me:

From the description of the problem that you left on the site, the disk may have a couple of different problems. However, we are experts at solving these issues and recovering the data on the disk. We are ISO:9001 registered, which means that the integrity of your service and the privacy of your data are of prime importance to us. We currently do regular data recoveries for many companies and government departments including The US Dept. of Defense, The British Ministry of Defense, IBM and Jaguar.

What we offer is a free diagnostic service of the drive along with free return shipping of the disk to you. Once our technicians have had a chance to examine the drive, we will then call you with a report and also discuss with you the charges to recover your data from the disk. At this point, you can either have us return the disk to you or have us recover the data, the option is up to you and again, you have not incured any charges. We normall complete the diagnostic testing in 24-48 hours. I will also contact you when the disk is received to let you know it has arrived.

I am attaching a form that you can fill out and send back to us with the disk to take advantage of our free diagnostic service. All I ask is that you securely package the disk and send it to my attention so that I can take it directly to a technician for the diagnostic work.

Please feel free to either call me or respond to this email so that we can discuss your options.

I look forward to working with you in the near future.

Sincerely Yours,

Nick Mack

Hope this helps.

Drive Savers is often recommended.

I have never used them or any data recovery service before.

Drive savers was able to recover a bunch or r3d data on Star Trek Phase 2.

(Our ingest guy was doing backups to the same drive as the master copy... and then rendering ProRes... also to the same drive. We eventually got every frame back.)

BTW, LaCie drives have the worst reputation of them all over here in Germany. My own Big Disk for example had bad soldering on connectors and a dedicated controller (of course), so the only way to get the data back was buying another identical box from them…

After recovering my data I sold it to a guy in Austria with the same issue. I have about 20 well-reported similar cases with LaCie drives on my list.

I know that doesn't help, but just wanted to say you're not alone.

Hello Carlos,

There are so many data recovery services you can found through browsing the net but Nucleus Data recovery services are the BEST, the software Kernel for FAT and NTFS is the best data recovery software in it's category and it preview you your data after scanning your hdd drive and give you the platform to select the selective files which you want to recover.

Thanks
