Hi Reduser

Need some more help but I promise this'll shall be the last time! (I hope)

I am currently editing r3d files natively and after downloading the RED plugin and upgrading to AVID 6.0, I've been able to successfully link footage into my project.

however, after cutting together a sequence, I just can't export the project out. Do I have to export it as a certain format, and if so what are the settings?

Right now i'm exporting to quicktime movie using same as source.

Hi Michael. I run Avid MC 5.1, and as of that version, you cannot do a Quicktime reference export of any AMA referenced media. You must either export an actual written file, or what I generally do, is a video mixdown (DNx), audio mixdown, drop the two into a new timeline and export that as Quicktime reference. I do this because it seems mixdowns are much faster than the Quicktime Export. And then I use Sorenson or CS Media Encoder/Encore to create the delivery form.

Michael, I am curious if you are hearing audio from your Red footage r3d files in Avid. I've heard people have been unable to get audio with their video in Avid MC 6 with r3d media.

Thanks, i actually got it to work. I can send it to a quicktime movie by using custom settings and exporting it out either as an mp4 or h264 and it looks fine for internet quality.

Well, I don't hear any audio with my r3d media but that's because the Scarlet doesn't have an internal mic to record audio with and I haven't hooked up any audio to the Scarlet yet.

Thanks for the help Brant

HI Brant, Notice your post about audio in .R3D files i too have been trying a few different work flows one being MC6 with an AMA import. At this tage i have issues with clips with audio as well. If i dont have audio i can actually edit on a laptop which is pretty cool. Let me know if you hear of any developments with Audio/.R3D in Avid.
Cheers Aaron
