I was just approached by Nat Geo to shoot a segment for their new series on migrations shooting the Great White Shark. He had suggested using the Angenieux 15-40mm but wanted to go wider. Any lens suggestions? We'll be using a Gates Housing in shallow water with good lighting (tropical waters).

Great whites! Do they play well with shooters or will you be in a cage? Sounds fun...try searching the bubble blowers thread, I know they have discussed a bunch of wide/fast lenses that work well for them. I am trying to figure out what housing would fit out 25mm HAWK anamorphic lens, curious your experience with the Gates.

Suggestion...talk with Matt Duclos about their Tokina 11-16 conversion. I've heard it is a great lens.

Some time ago, I was topsides DP on a Great White shark show that we shot in Australia with Rodney Fox as our talent. Howard Hall was the underwater DP...really great experience. We shot 16mm and I believe Howard's lens was the 5.9mm Angenieux, which would translate into about 12mm on the RED at 4K. I personally don't think 15mm is wide enough. Good suggestion above to read the U/W threads.
