  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Nanoflash?

With the new cameras, and even future builds of the RED One, we'll be able to create our own looks and then load them to the camera. So you can shoot with a custom look applied to your footage and record to a nanoflash or similar device or run it through an HD-SDI switcher for live situations, etc..

Out of curiosity, why would you want to use the NanoFlash on the Red One? Are the Redcode data rates not sufficient for your work?

Thanks in advance.

Jay, did you ever test the 23.98?
Cheers,
Harry

The RED ONE is, we use it quite a bit.. So Epic and Scarlet will be also

The Red works with the Nanoflash?

I had heard it doesn't. And in the Convergent Design FAQ it makes no mention of the Red camera although one question that appears makes reference as follows...

22. Can nanoFlash support 2K formats?
No, unfortunately this is not possible.

What has been your experience? No problems? Some limitations? What about shooting different project resolutions or variable frame rates?

Thanks.

The Red One outputs 720p over HDSDI so that's why you can use a nanoflash with it.

if it's a 1080p, or 720p HD SDI output on the camera, nanoflash will work with it. it will not work with dual link/3g sdi that can give you a 2k output. The cheapest external device you can record 2k with i believe is the cinedeck extreme, which is around 10 grand if they haven't changed the price since I last checked.

It's still around $10k. And you are correct, it is the cheapest portable recorder with the specs it has. I have one.
