nanlite vs aputure

Hello,

Im on the fence on buying the nanlite forza 500 or a aputure 300d II. Any recommendations. Im concerned about the colour temperature, it is said the aputure lights are more magenta, but they are more widespread so I can find a lot better examples with aputure lights then I can find with nanlite forza lites. But the price is more interesting, but if the colour looks boring or too blue or something then it might be a waste of money.

I have the Apurture 300D II, Nanlite 500, and even the Apurture 600D. They're all excellent.

Never used the Nanlite but I got two Aputure 300 ll in my kit, they are well made, got great output and good color. I tested quite a few standard reflectors as their output and shadow rendering is quite different depending on their shape and your working distance, it's quite cheap to buy different shape and size Bowens reflectors and test them. Other than bare reflectors for hard product shadows the 2x Fresnel is actually quite good with very even falloff. I was on the fence for a 600d but did a demo with a Desisti Super 14 this week, instant buy, can't beat a real large fresnel for studio sun.

Is the 600d a demo/preview copy? I pre-ordered one and December 10th is what's being floated around as the ship date, according to NewsShooter.

But if you do have the 600d, how do you like it? Does it stand-up to a real 800 watt HMI? Some of the photometrics put it in the same league as my Bron Kobold 800's. But historically, I've always ended up disappointed with LED's touted as HMI replacements. I have high hopes for the 600d. Especially after the F10 fresnel lens is released.

I have the Nanlite Forza 500 and it is a great light, especially with the Fresnel lens on the front.

I have the Aputure 600d and I can say I'm not seeing any sign of a magenta cast, it very clean and with the new F10 fresnel is super punchy, I am getting a 1/2 stop more light that with my huge and heavy EcoPunch, and better color. its pretty awesome.

I've used both, and own a couple of the Nanlite 500s, and both are really great lights. Colour is fine with both units. I think the Aputures are generally built a little sturdier, but what's brilliant about the Forza 500, is that the head only weighs a couple of kilograms - which means it's reasonably easy to boom out. And having that much firepower, in a boomable form-factor is incredibly useful.

I HATE the double sided lockoffs on the Nanlite's Yoke though - really slows down adjustments.

I don't think you can go wrong with either. The LED manufacturers have come far in the last 5-years.

i own the 300x and 600x and i really really like them. the 600x feels SOOO pro, and i used it in inclement weather as well with no issues.
also using B7c bulbs is fun since all my lights can run off the app.
