Hello

I need to know if I can change the name(into scene nr.) of my RED trans coded files in Avid, will it affect me when i go back to online it, or are those 14 digit numbers stored somewhere else in the meta data.

What Jason said. Don't mess with the names as that will effect your edl. Also it's a good idea to include 'clip' in the edl as an extra option to the online folks.

One other question can you only have comments column in text mode in the bin I can't seem to fins in Bin settings

If you have importer everything correctly With redrushes/metacheater Ale etc u Will have the 16 letter tapename in the column tape or camroll, if this is correctly u are free to change clipname. Marcus

duplicate the names by hitting ctrl+d and choose another heading like camroll or tape id
then you can change whatever you like - be sure to duplicate all of the original red file names metadata back to the clipname heading before outputting the EDL with the clip name option marked in the settings tab using the RED 16 template
