  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB13- Dragon Sensor Upgrade Program begins

. . . we have already pre-selected and obtained all the cameras that we have time to upgrade during the show and these will be shipped to their owners the week after NAB."

Matrix Moment: What if I told you the "owners" of those camera's was RED ;-)

Interesting. Do you have a link or a name of your source?

Who's specific camera are you talking about? Link please to those who stated they have sent in their Epic for the upgrade.

Steve Gibby said his 2 x pre-production serial number Epics were in there.

Look at any photo of the NAB clean room and tell me those don't look like brand new camera bodies. Nary a scratch or chip in the paint. No big deal - probably just building factory stock for when everything is ready to go.

C'mon Josh, you accuse Michael Jarvis of spreading rumors and he answers with concrete facts, then you turn around and channel Johnny Lee Miller by deducing something that you have no proof for? Oh, the hypocrisy!

Got me! Guess this debate could be settled by an end user shooting and uploading some Dragon footage. Meantime us little people are left to observe and extrapolate. There were a hundred or so camera bodies in that clean room. Seems odd that no one has directly spoken up about theirs being one of them if, in fact, those are end user bodies. No rumors - just observations my friend. Either way who really cares? They ship when they ship.

Exactly Josh, they ship when they ship! Just saw that Red Nab reel again and we have THAT camera- the camera that produces those pictures (yes, probably not those multi million dollar budgets and CGI). But looking at Flight, that Al Pacino shot, or even Hitchcock makes me more confident on what's coming next. Its a broken record over here, but I'm sure that all redusers still get goose bumps when a properly lit, framed and exposed shot is coming from their cameras. Its just pure magic. I can't even imagine what will it all look like on the Dragon, but I'm sure I wont be disappointed.

This wait will make reduser more interesting. Every single "feed" of new pictures and videos- I personally request RED to do a new SHORT like Tattoo! Convince Deakins to do it! :)

Very quiet on the Red front regarding all this. Come on Jim, jarred, Brent, what's the story morning glory ? We are all in line, present and correct, when does it begin ?

Justin is absolutely right...I heard the same directly from Steve...

Tom, you definitely misunderstood what I said in our conversation. When you asked if my Epics were going to be upgraded to Dragon I didn’t say my Epics were in there already. What I did say was: “Definitely, they’ll be in for the upgrades”.

Justin, I don't believe we talked at NAB. I don't know where you got that info on what I supposedly said, but what I told Tom above was in fact the only thing I said to anyone about Dragon upgrades while I was at NAB.

Rumors get started easily because everyone is curious about the upgrades! When Red is ready to release more info I’m sure they will ;)

My bad! Open mouth, insert foot! I retract my previous statement...sorry for the misunderstanding, Steve!

i heard Steve got the Dragon chip inserted into his brain because he said the color science of his eyes was really good.

;-))) The color science of my eyes depends on the day! On a good day they're blue with a lot of white. On a bad day they're blue with a lot of red - and very little white.

No worries my friend! No harm, no foul ;-))

It was a noisy booth, and everyone was buzzing about Dragon.

I'm one of Red's first two customers in their history. Red has been fantastic over these many years when it came to customer service and loyalty to their early adopters - and to all their customers for that matter. That will never change...

Hey Steve, I just missed you at the Miller booth. It would have been a pleasure to meet you. Next year perhaps!

Sorry I missed you! Hopefully we'll meet next year, if not before then...

One of the way cool things about Red User members is that we're a big extended family. Its always great to meet other Red Users, compare notes, talk story, etc. We all feed off that...

Steve, I'm sorry I missed you at NAB. Didn't even think to try and get in touch with you there. Hopefully next year. Thanks for your great help and support through-out 2012. It's been a wild ride.
