Anyone have experience with the workshops at NAB? I was thinking of taking the Director of Photography or the HDSLR one. Are they worth showing up Friday night for (instead of Monday like I planned).

I am hoping they are in depth classes and not just product pitches with a few tech. slides.

I have.
I went last year. I pushed to go to as many as possible. I took notes for everything I didn't know.

That list didn't exceed 4 items.

I was 17 at the time. If I knew most the information presented, you should be able to approximate the level of information. Two minutes of online research will cover 90% taught.

The HDSLR class was trivial. They teach you a little about how it works, its advantages and it's flaws. Nothing you can't learn from a quick forum search here or a flip through the manual. (That was last year, take for granted)

I don't recall a DP 'shop. But if it equates with every other class I would recomend calling a rain check. Just get a floor pass. See you there.

Who knows, you may enjoy them or learn better from classes than online. Not worth $250 bucks though.
