  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB... Tropicana

It worries me that a Scarlet prototype isn't ready by now... I'm getting the feeling that we won't be seeing them until after summer. I know RED is working their hardest, and I'll wait for the Scarlet until it's available, but I can't help but feel a little bummed out. That said, big congratulations on EPIC.

I agree with Joseph, this is very positive news. If Epic is almost here, Scarlet cant be far away. Once the new cameras are in sight, my next concern would be the availabilities of accessories. But that neither here nor there for now. The current focus is seeing the Epic and other goodies in store.

So my sentiments are as follows, let the Pro's have their day/s, more attention goes to Epic right now...

True, more attention is going to RED right now, because that is the only way to things right now.

Lemme tell you this, the Pro's are looking forward to seeing the Scarlets arrive. Trust me...

With extra time being spent on the ASIC and other logistics with the DSMC being fine tuned for the last 3-4 months, I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the modules that are expected to be natural hits (CF modules, Side Handles) have been under production to some degree in the overseas... (just my 2 cents)

Most exciting NAB since 2006 for sure.

Whoa, really?

NAB 06 produced a legitimate "game changer" in Red (as opposed to horrific overuse of that word), the NABs since then have been fun but mostly just evolutionary. Is there something revolutionary about this one?

For those who can't justify half a week in Vegas will non-functional prototypes be floating around the floor for groping?

hmm. Ted will have his hands full from Thursday-Monday with REDucation. He will be doing a presentation at the "Post Pit" from 2:00-2:30 on Tuesday.

I'd be mildly surprised if he had the working EPIC prototype, but he will probably have the non-working prototype with him at his presentation...

EDIT: Speaking of "justification", why couldn't you justify one day with RED on Wednesday over all the days at NAB? :D

This quote from Jarred pretty much confirms it:

Those details we will sort out as we get close... there is still lots of time and since the machines are already moving, we should have built up a good amount of stock by the time Scarlets start shipping.

Reading about Epic for the last year has been fun.. but seeing it actually work in front of you is definitely revolutionary.

Because you can burn a day traveling during the weekend. And since the RED event is in the evening you can't really fly out that day.

This reminded me of how I used to imagine Epic would blaze through menus packed with all of the features we ever wanted, but didn't exist, or weren't all in one single camera... everything! I a perfect package.

hmmmm..... now tempted to drive out there just for that day from long beach:yesnod:
