Is it custom for companies present at NAB (cameras, lenses, support gear) to also sell products there? Do they give discount also? If not, why would people buy from NAB as opposed ordering from them after the show?
From an older post I read that somebody bought a RED camera off the show floor. Advantage?

vendors are not allowed to sell things at NAB

from the nab website

Direct Selling
Due to potential tax liability and other concerns, NAB Show® strictly prohibits over-the-counter sales (i.e., cash, check or credit card). Exhibitors may take business orders for future delivery.

Typically conventions prohibit "cash & carry" transactions, you cannot pay and walk out with merchandise.

However, vendors can take Sales orders to be processed and fulfilled apart from the event.
Depending on the company or the product, there may be incentives (a.k.a discounts) to drive up interest, or build pre-release sales numbers for upcoming products.

Some the senior members of this board may recall a particular camera company that did this....

Edit: Chad type faster than I do!

Do they offer discounts usually?

Hence why I usually end up buying bags, just in case I leave with more than I came with. Vegas always gets my money somehow…..

I put a $1,000 deposit on a camera in april of 2006, it took 16 months for them to ship it to me, but arguably i purchased the camera at NAB. seriously though i have been buying products directly from the NAB sales floor for over 20 years and never even knew about the "Policy"....remember this....everything is for sale all of the time, it is just at what price you are willing to pay.
