  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB 2014 - REDMAG 1.8" 240GB

Do we know how much "faster" means... is that fast as minimags or no?
Indeed. Will this mag give my Epic higher framerates and/or lower compression rates?

How fast exactly are we talking here...490MB/s sequential write?

The one year warranty has been waaay overdue, but certainly very welcome!

Lower price also very nice, thanks.

This is great news that you haven't given up on the 1.8" standard. I'm sure the mini mags are cool but it required a massive investment. I actually like the 1.8" size.

I have such bad timing on buying/ selling REDMAGs, lol!

If I would've known about these, I probably wouldn't have converted to the mini-mags. I do love the new mini-mags, though. :)

Jeff,

I can relate, I have had the worst Red media timing since Red One flash cards, Red Drives, and SSD 256 cards! I bet I have spent close to all the camera costs and updates for media!

What is still unknown is delivery six to eight weeks and being in line to receive a 240! And will they be as fast as 512 mini to take full advantage of Dragon!

Back on the fence!

Kennan

This the wonderful price... Thanks Jarred...

Also wondering on the Exact Difference between RED MINI MAGS, the old 256 GB SSD 1.8" and these new 240 GB 1.8".

Would be great if RED could give us some Info, wo we can make a smart Buying Decision. We are for example just in the middle of thinking to upgrading to MINI Mags.

How much faster? Similar to the 512GB? Would there be comparison compression charts available soon please?

The REDMAG 256GB is being replaced by the 240GB version.

The 240GB is faster than the current 256GB.

i thought the Side Module itself is limited to 3G Sata and does not have 6G Sata?

I don't think that's the case. I think the side module is mostly just a pass-through. You may be thinking of the RedMag reader which is limited to 3 gigabits.

Case in point, the larger side module supports full-size 512 GB mags which record at 450 MB/s which is more than 3 gigabits.

So when do we get new Red Mag readers with eSATA, FW800 and USB3, all together, along with 6Gb/s transfer speeds. I would love to offload redmags to my internal raid at 400 MB/s, especially with 240 GB cards.
