NAB 2014 - RED ARMORY - Camera Package Configurator

Hi William,

This one is already on the list but you were able to provide some other possible options, thank you.

Keegan

What might be helpful are some "pre-configured" packages designed specifically for different stabilization rigs...

i.e. a movi m10 red package... A tripod red package... A crane package... An octocopter package... A steady cam package...

These packages would just be the red products that are required to function in those scenarios.

Would be good to spend some time revamping the cart.

Removing items is a chore. There should be a delete all.

Also have a look at B&Hphotos cart. They allow you to organize items together by dragging and dropping cart items next to each other. It really does help get your head around what you are buying. B&H have a great system from cart to checkout.

The Armory needs more info on each item that is presented. I guess that is coming.

Them main thing for me was the current shop is soooooo slow. And the cart was antiquated.

Glad to see this area get some attention!

Here is a sneak peek of the new camera configuration to make putting together a RED camera package a little bit easier.

Have a go at it and let us know what you think.

May have to add quantities.. for cards and batteries, Only lets you tick a single box. So if i wanted to buy 8 256 cards and 20 Red volts, how do you do that. ?

:)

RED is selling cars now too??? Of course Mark wants to buy those in quantities! I'm doing something wrong :wink:

My "two cents" Here or in the beta-form?

The first impression, this is a great tool. Nice start.

====

The animated camera-assembly looks not on par with the quality of anything that I have seen on RED.com, but it is a placeholder, right? ;o)

I'm not certain which target group "you" are after. For the "Pro" who knows what s/he needs, the text seems not a good fit. The "Pro" might love a little button for the tech-data (fly-out), just for a quick check, no-one likes to have people go away from the order page ;o)

For the "Starter" who tries to figure out what s/he needs first, the information is not enough. Each option should have a little "i" button for a fly out window to tell why this is needed in a proper configuration, and what amount of those (e.g., batteries) will give while working with the gear, for example.

Each main selection group might have a little request info as well (or a movie clip, on minute, or so) which explains what is the "rule of thumb" to select, like a "dealer" would walk you through the process.

For each selection- group, there should be a "skip" button, a clear decision that someone likes to have no mount or media. This would add a little box to the summery that without these items the camera is limited or not might not work at all.

====

In a nut shell, amount selector (or a little hint that the amount can be adjusted later) and a request-able information to each item -- without leaving the page.

How could one store a selection and compare two or three scenarios?

Easy...just select the item in the Armory, and then when you've got all the entity types you need, view your cart and adjust quantities to suit.

I like it. Amount selection is a must though.

Another thing. Dropdown menus would help to reduce the amount of scrolling down that is needed to find the "continue" button. Or you just put one at the top also ;)
