  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB 2014 - DRAGON EPIC-M MONOCHROME

Looks amazing John, also liked your early monochrome shots in the desert.

What olpf options would us mono shooters want ? i know i'd prefer a nude sensor (no olpf or ir), with my current lens set they will add enough blur at 6k (and mono shooters get the value of each pixel as a spatial point), and i find i put filters on my still glass so dont really need the ir (not sure about the ir though, i'd constantly need to put that over my nd filters). i also prefer to pick my filter order (ie ir first, then nd, then blur ... but for some effects i like to change the order). Another thing is i like my raw, truly raw since i work in linear and often reapply my own wavelet math ... so it makes it easier for me having things stripped down. Not sure if my want is extreme from the monochrome users viewpoint, but i'd think it would be easier from REDs viewpoint.

Has a scarlet dragon monochrome been discussed at all?

I had a chance to play with the dragon mono at the NY store today, and it was insane.

I would assume there would be a demand for a scarlet mono, for those of us that wouldn't drop 30K on a specialty brain, though after seeing it in action i'm tempted.

Scarlet Dragon Monochrome = Good Idea.

Scarlet Mono = bad idea

For those who paid full price for a Dragon Mono

I would buy a scarlet dragon tomorrow if one was released.

That argument is a little strange... you could basically say the same thing regarding the Epic and Scarlet non-monochrome models...
