Hi, I'm a UK based cinema owner and film maker. I own a Scarlet & Red One, I'm also a cs5 & Davinci Resolve user.

I've always been curious about NAB and wondered if regular visitors would recommend it baring in mind the cost/travel implications.

Finally, what kind of registration would you recommend? At BVE in the UK, you just register for free, look around the show and attend seminars etc. A day is enough. NAB looks much bigger though!

Thanks
Tom

I go every year. It's a great way to get up and personal w/gear, workflows, engineers, etc. With FCP on the outs, I have to figure out what's going to be the most effective NLE for our facility. No better place to get answers to the many questions our workflows (Photo Studio / Film & Video Post & Prod. Co.) present.

A buddy of mine goes every year as well. Being a DP (RED ONE & EPIC owner), his knowledge and the many things he's interested in seeing is of great use to my never ending quest to remain current & knowledgable outside the post world.

Tom, you can also look at it as an experience that you have to do at least once in your life ;o) It's Vegas for goodness sake!

As for getting into the exhibits for free, you can get a free pass from Avid: http://apps.avid.com/nab2012/?elq_mid=5652&elq_cid=5346368

Cheers,
Ben
