I have seen announcements on some FCP User Group sites such as this about a NAB 2011 Reduser Party.

From:
http://www.dcfcpug.org/2011/02/20/nab-wednesday-reduser-2011-party/

"NAB Wednesday: REDUSER 2011 Party
Join us with our friends Steve Sherrick and the good people at RED for the REDUSER 2011 Party at the Tropicana Hotel & Casinoas on Wednesday, April 13th from 11am-11pm. Steve and RED crew are going to put on another great night of our favorite color. An Epic event is approaching. Be prepared."

However I can find no mention of it on the forum here. http://www.redusernab.info/ still says 2010.

Does anybody know if this is happening or not?

I think that post at dcfcpug.org is in error. Nothing to my knowledge has been planned for this year.

Does Ketch need help with the tiramisu? Is that what's holding up the works?

???

Other than the dates, that looks like a re-post from last year. WTF???

So far nothing has been announced and Steve would no doubt post here on reduser first if he were helping to coordinate anything like last year. I'm guessing someone found the info from last year and took it upon themselves to re-post with this year's dates. Making a complete ASSumptive fool of themselves, or possibly trying to genuinely f**k with people. Who's this Rodney guy, anyway?

Just to clarify this situation, there is currently no official REDuser event this year. There may have been some assumptions made based on the fact that we have done an event for the past few years, but this year is a bit different as RED is back at NAB, and therefore the style of event we have done in the past just doesn't make sense this year.

Now, I don't want to rule out the possibility of smaller events/get togethers springing up, but I can say that as of right now, there is nothing official planned.

Despite being a lot of work, the past events have been a great opportunity for me to meet a lot of you. Rest assured, while in Vegas I don't sleep much, so there's always a possibility of some kind of party. And there's a lot of redusers who also like to party. So.....

Still no plans? I'm travelling across the Globe for NAB this year and I'd love to meet as many fellow Redusers as possible :-)

Maybe time to arange our own, simple meeting place and time where anyone can show up and say hi.

SIG-nificant opportunity

SIG-nificant opportunity

While the RED booth on the show floor should be a wonderful experience for RedUsers on many levels, hanging around chatting in the aisle is not the same as a SIG (special interest group) meeting. As Steve noted, in years that RED eschewed the show floor the RED/RedUser event served a larger purpose that led to a particular event profile that required certain resources to stage. This year a more informal get together, essentially a SIG meeting, sounds like the call. No elaborate planning (no time), no 3rd party vendor pitches and minimal cost.

Anybody have any ideas for a place we could have a room or section of a bar/restaurant to chat and eat/drink? What about time and day?

Cheers - #19

vote for Monday or Wednesday evening....... Mark/OffHollywood mentioned a Saturday get together (haven't heard anymore which works for those getting in early)

I think Wed night is ideal

I vote for Wednesday too as some fly in late and some fly out early. Does anyone with local knowledge have suggestions for a place?

Hey guys - Justin Harrison mentioned trying to set something up and wanted people to PM him. I've had no response to my note... but what I suggested to him is that I'm staying at Polo Towers on the strip and they have a top-level pool that might be a good place. There's charcoal grills if one were so inclined... it would have to be BYOB (no concessions on-site save vending machines.)

That sounds like a good setting Don. Plus, we'll be able to enjoy the warm Vegas Night.
