Wanted to post a few observations from this years NAB.
RED was everywhere! Commented to Jim on Monday morning (somewhere in the central hall) that it seemed that there were hundreds of RED cameras spread around the booths in all 3 halls - RED accessories, Software/editing solutions (from dedicated hi-end DI/finishing solutions to desktop editing), general production equipment... a fantastic display of the industry feeling the need to say that they supported and worked with RED in some form. What a difference a year (or 2) makes! (yeah "it's a scam")
The huge increase in PL glass offerings and announcements.
The 4K Displays and projectors offered (on sale or working prototypes being shown) - from Astro, JVC and Sony to Christy, Barco, etc.
The amount of 3D - acquisition, post and distribution/displays...who'da thunk!
The REDUser Event - wow! What a great gathering of the RED Community. Great Vendors and what a wonderful series of presentations. We all know the 'Surprise" and was glad to find out that behind the scenes that Mammoth HD was a very small contributor to the evolvement and tweaking of REDRay codec.
Wish I could have met and talked with ALL the REDUsers at the event, but did talked with a lot and look forward to talking meeting more of you.
On a side note - Mammoth HD's 2009 NAB Reels and Footage was seen around the show from the RED Reels (2009 NAB and 2008 IBC (RedRay) to the NAB Content Theater's Reel-Change Reels to our Production Partners Booths - hope you had a chance to check them out.
So - Thank You -> Jim and the RED team, Michael and the PlasterCity Team, Steve Sherrick for the REDUser Event... and all of the RED Community for making this a exciting year of RED at NAB.
