Hi All

So if you have ever been to NAB before you know how Overwhelmingly, Ridiculously, Massive the show is. To Get the most out of NAB a precision game plan is a must or you will get lost in gear overload. Last year I put together a post that listed what I felt needed to be seen. I was thinking this year a group effort would be far more effective to make sure everyone gets the most possible out of the show. I will compile the list and post it on www.finnerknowsbest.com with some new video's and a special little treat I hope you all like hopefully by mid-week. So without further yabbering I will start off the list with Gems I know will have great stuff to see.

Element Technica

View Factor Studio's

Red Rock Micro

Action Products

So that is just a small start. Please everyone lets band together to compile the list off all things NAB we must see. Post away Red-Nerds lets make a list that would make the biggest of us geeks giggle with joy.

cheers

In case there are new companies we don't know about, maybe you could
organize it as product catagories. When I go to NAB I have specific items I am looking for and hit all the vendors showing those products first.

Since I can't go this year, this would be an immense help.

Categories I would like to see:

LED lights
Lenses for Red.
remote heads that dont cost more than my house.

Great thread.. I'm looking for glass and other Red accessories at the 2009 NAB.

I'm interested in doing a group buy on gear this NAB, anyone else??

Lets start a list now and, we can execute at the NAB, Everyone at the NAB is ready to play let's make a deal and the volume deals get the largest discount!!

Anyone know of any RedUser Discounts available this year??

Dave

I probably can't make Nab but if I was going I would look out:

fujinon's T2 18-85 35mm PL zoom surely has to be seen... never liked there 2/3 inch zooms but T2?? If they have prototypes of their other PL glass then they would have to be seen?

Cinetal's new 10bit monitor (actually any 10bit grade monitor that can load luts and cost less than a car you can pull members of the opposite sex with has to be seen). Could somebody go to E-cinema and ask if their new gade 1 is real and shipping?

Any new device that can be used to set back focus on a Red WITHOUT a lens!! (I feel, with my lay brain. that this is essential and could make somebody, willing to believe in the size of the Red market, a tiny furtune!)

Pop over to Arri cause I believe there is something that is (for me at least) very exciting.

ET as the de facto standard in Red accessories and must always be checked out.

Finding anyone selling/developing a more mass market cinetape would be fantastic.

hope the keen investigative redusers report back on the smaller finds that don't make the press...

good luck

I'm still not at full liberty to give details, but I would say that with the toys we'll be debuting, Abel Cine Tech's booth should be considered a must-see for NAB this year.

I think Finner was talking accessories given that this thread is in "Accessories for the RED ONE" -

post & workflow wise ... there are a couple MAJOR bombshells that will steal the spotlight from all the German lens hoopla.

It will be the best NAB for Reduser's since 2006 for sure.

Given attendance is predicted to be down - it makes the show even better - easier to talk to folks, get around, etc.

MAJOR for someone of your caliber or major for the rest of us as well? :-)

Multiple sets of primes that all claim to be under $20k and as good as current $50k (or higher) offerings is a pretty big deal.

I'm flattered that you put me in some caliber higher than "the rest of us" - but yes Shawn - I couldn't agree more - affordable primes at the quality I found in the Red primes - in addition to other options becoming available is a very big deal - but let's just say ... if you follow me during the show on twitter ... I'll tell you which booth to go to when the doors open ...

lol, it was a genuine compliment, you're the owner of a serious prod house in NY and i'm just a Grass Valley software dev/aspiring director who owns a Red cam (yay).

I'm already following you on Twitter and will watch for your recommendations. I'm at NAB on Tues and Wed, I look forward to saying hi to you there or at the Redparty.

I will assume you are trying to be helpful here Greg.. :aureola:

So we're talking some sort of web based text message type thingy..

Ok...

Twitter is a free social messaging utility for staying connected in real-time. You can access it with any phone with web access. The iPhone has a free app. that simplifies the interaction.
