Hey guys! I'm wondering if anyone can identify this tripod. I found it for a pretty good price online; I've heard good things about Millers but can't find any details about this tripod. The listing just says Miller 25 with Aluminum legs. Any ideas?

Thanks Bob! A little more info on there... The Compass 25 is my dream tripod, but I don't have the funds at the moment, and my puny Benro S8 is not up for the job with my Scarlet package.

I may just pull the trigger on this Miller 25. It's hard to know, but do you think the counterbalance on something like this will be too strong for a 15 lbs camera setup?

Its an older head. Same as this one:

I have the newer compass 25 and really like it.

Thanks for the recommendation, Matt. I have actually been eyeing the Benro BV10, as it seems to be the most budget-friendly 22 lbs capacity tripod with counterbalance. So, I'm having a tough time deciding.

I can get the old Miller 25 for $700. Miller name is good. Supposedly holds up to 25 pounds, 4 step counterbalance. Seller says it's in excellent condition, but I do worry that because of its age, something could be wrong with it.

OR I can get the Benro BV10 for $800. Benro is a young, "budget" brand, but I've had good experiences. Holds up to 22 lbs, 4 step counterbalance. Brand new but unproven.

Ugh. I hate these decisions.

I used to have one of these, it's a very good head, especially for that price. I would call miller service dept Tel: +1 (973) 857 8300 and see if they still service this head just in case you have a problem.
I currently own two miller heads, a 25 and a 55.

If you can afford it, get a Miller Compass 25. A tripod is something you use a lot, so it sure is nice to have one you love. My first tripod was a Sachtler Video 18s with carbon fiber two stage legs, that was 20 years ago, it cost a ton but I still have it and it still works great.

Get the Miller. No comparison in terms of performance compared to anything Benro makes. I've owned a Miller 25 since 2007 and still going strong. I've tried every Benro and the action is disappointing, especially the tilt resistance.

Holy cow

A blast from the past.

I had the exact same setup as in the first picture.

But that was 20(!) years ago.

One of the legs has broken on my tripod but I'm still using the head.

I guess it will survive me
