  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Mysterium-X...

ISO 16000!!!!!

ISO 16000!!!!!

My test bed is a modified RED ONE. ISO 2000 is the highest it goes. The new cameras will go higher. The cleaner the sensor, the more you can push it.

I have just stopped down the aperture to the equivalent of ISO 16000. Amazing to get a useable image.

ISO 16000!!!!!

Usable image!!!!!

Amazing news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This new sensor your using is it at 4.5K or 4k or what if you dont mind sharing.

Thanks
Luis

I remember a while back, it may have been when everything RED was on DVXUser back in 05 or 06, but someone said something like "It's a shame whenever you see a beautiful image, like in a bar or somewhere dim, where you can see the most subtle shadows and highlights on someones face or arm, but you won't be able to capture those on any camera." It sounds like RED is going to give us that camera soon.

The new Nikon D3S has some incredible low light capabilities... just that the sensor is slow (frame rate). The future is all about low noise and being able to push the ISO up dramatically. It is much harder to do with a fast sensor. I think you will be impressed with where we are. I am.

Truth of the matter is that most of what anyone really needs is up to about ISO 2000.

My R1 has an M-X sensor that shoots 4.5K .

Jim, sounds awesome!

ISO 800 as the new 320 is a double edged sword, for all my low light stuff this is a HUGE awesome, but for outdoors I'm now wondering if my ND1.2 will now feel more like a .6. Will I be able to adjust the ISO down to get a cleaner image in daylight? To electronically alter the sensitivity of the chip would be fantastic.

ISO 320 is better than the old 320!

I can't wait. I will have an excellent DSMC with scarlet and just as excellent workflow with rocket fuel, all at an affordable price. Red has changed the game.:anti-old:

Cool! Can I dial M-X down to 320 or below without incurring penalty and simply losing sensitivity? i know with Red there's a penalty for dialing down, you're not actually helping at all

It sound amazing and I guess this will do wonders for outdoor keying, and tracking to.

Jim, I have been believing in you form the start and I was one of the few that was right when ”the fraud” really turned out to be the real thing. And now with the modular system and optical viewfinder etc, almost everything I was hoping for has come true. But one big thing remains on my wish list, a non rolling shutter brain. As a post production guy I would give anything for a RED brain with a CCD. Is that even possible? I have been used to work with HD footage because in some case the rolling shutter just does my work almost impossible and now with RED the problems from the 35mm world remains.
Do you think my last wish will come true?

Any way, your guys are just amazing, my absolutely best wishes and regards /Pontus W

(Pleas change my name to Pontus W)

I'm really looking forward to seeing this high ISO low noise because I can then have two camera doing timelapse at night instead of just one.

Jim, since Epic and Scarlet are DSMC will they have bulb and long exposure times built in? The RED One seemed to have problems doing long exposures, mainly the noise and hot pixels that the sensor would generate. So with this awesome sensitivity are those going to be things of the past?
