The good news is that Skew is really a problem of the past... but I see a jittering artefact that is not very pleasant and "organic" on pans or lateral movements in the new sensor. As if the reset time has been increased too much... ?

This is based on the clip showed here

http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=40354

and specially on the subway test @ 5'05''

I know about pan speed/focal distance jitter are common on every camera but it seams to me that this behavours wouldn't appear on the old "mysterium" in the same situation...(though it probably would have skew problems). Any one noticed this?

Looking forward to test the new sensor!

Hey Sanjin,

You are probably rigth that my iMac Intel isn't the best viewing device...

I was refferring to the attached jpeg cutout and on the verticals in the tubes of the mxwalk test... Perhaps in your better viewing conditions you don't have this problem and so everything is fine?

Hope so...

Patrick

My 2 cents,

I have seen this happen in the past with the Redone as well. But I don't think it is a problem with the sensor. I think it is the way these street lamps work. It seems you get double exposure if things are moving fast or camera is panning fast. I am not an expert on this, but I think it is related to the street lamps. I shot a short film with a lot of motion in night scenes and got this "strobe" effect.

Could well be streetlight synch. not matching frame rate etc.

This could be tested with large tungsten sources, ten ks.
They dont cool down between 60hz cycles.

or or high hz. kino flows.

It's true that gas discharge streetlamps will have a a strobe effect as they flicker at the ballast or local mains frequency.
