I will be editing a feature length project on the Red. I appreciate any feedback.

MAC Pro Quad
MAC OS 10.54
2 gb ram
QT 7.5
FCP 6.04

I'm planning on doing a one light in Red Cine and then making a 2k Prores, editing in FCP and Color.

I'm rooting for ya, but RAM, among other things not mentioned, could be improved....

I would agree, 2 gig is going to be an issue with playback in FCP and performance in Color. I would highly recommend upping the memory atleast two more gigs if you can.

Only use Prores for offline. It doesn't really hold up to Color correction. Use red rushes or even log and transfer for dailies and offline editing and then finish it in a post house with scratch. If you must do DIY to finish, break up your timeline into 100 shot pieces, remove any speedramps, etc., send to redcine through crimson, onelight it in redcine to 2K 10bit DPX and use those in color through an edl import. Either render to ProRes at this point, or even better, to DPX and conform in FCP with gluetools installed.

You will not be happy with ProRes going through color correction in anything but SD.

What James and Florian said.

You will also want adequate storage in the form of a moderately fast RAID and a good data backup plan.
