  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

My RED PACKAGE Configuration

This looks better. Would definitely add another powerpack (not only batteries) and an AC adapter. Then you should be happy. (The powerpacks make to much noise for studio AC use...)

Thanks for your suggestion but I've already exceeded my limit
Maybe I'll find a way to get it later..

Onur,

If you are getting 2 15mm adapters, then you will want to get at least 2 universal mounts. One for each adapter, because the third one that comes in your production pack will need to be used for either the cradle or the quickplate.

Didn't know that.. Thanks.. I'll reconsider..

In my still cameras over the past five years I have had best luck with Sandisk also. The Extreme IIIs are fast and reliable. I have had trouble when I tried Lexar CF cards on two different occasions.

16Gig Extreme III from Sandisk is only $199 (I just checked). I will be buying these for my Canon DSLRs. It would be nice to know if the Sandisk Extreme would work with RED.

Onur Selam

Bende Red e siparis vermeyi dusunuyorum birkac aydir. Ulasim ve gumruk islemleri hakkinda bir bilgin var mi?

Gokce

I scoped out RED's new carbon X fiber rods and they were incredibly light and can handle 200 pounds of stress, correct me if I am wrong. Also they do not explode so this is a good things.

Perfect for Guerrilla film making I say. ;)
nice domain name and welcome.

I will post some pics soon.

Best

I heard that if there is (clamping/pressing?) at the same place repetitively, that it would eventually (crush/dent?). True? (The source was a "competitor" at NAB, if I remember correctly).

I checked out the new rods at NAB, though, very nice.

Yes they seem nice but I don't have any idea if they will crush or not..
Maybe I'll go with the steel rods...

I was told that you can change/modify your configuration once they call you for camera shipping. They give you a call and a representative will suggest what suits your needs best. I havent got mine yet but thats what they told me over the phone.

You may want to confirm your Sandisk CF cards are going to work. I've heard Extreme IV is fast enough, but I heard a rumour that they don't work anymore in Build 15 - might want to check with others on that.

We highly recommend our Monstercine Hydra 5-Way Quick Release Rod clamp to mount your LCD and EVF directly to rods instead of the camera for fast reconfigurations. They are available in both 19mm or 15mm jaw sizes.

The 19-15mm reduction sleeves are also a great tool that allow you to convert the Red Top Mount holes to 15mm.. Along with the Element Technica 15mm to Arri Dovetail plate you have no need for 19mm rods.

Here are a few pics of the Hydra on Red: www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12775

Jim, will the reduction sleeves work for mounting the 19mm Viewfactor motors (http://www.viewfactor.net/) to 15mm rods?

Our reduction sleeves should work great on the Viewfactor mount. The sleeves are split to flex most to their length so unless the VF rod hole is longer than 1.75" - there should be no issue. Since Red recently chopped the top mount holes shorter, we've considered making shorter sleeves to fit them and these could be tailored in design to fit the VF mount too - we'll look into it.
