  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

My RED footage is Green in Final Cut Pro

I'm now running 4.2. I had to customize the installer, selecting only the Quicktime component in order for it to install correctly. Under 4.2 I'm having the same problem.

Is it always the same clip and perhaps the same frame in the clip? If so I'd like to take a look at the file. Please email me, it's my first name (at) red.com

Thanks!

Rob

It's been a few weeks, and I'm still having this issue:

It seems to be a byproduct of shooting with proxies enabled. Rob, if your still around, I would love a response to the footage I sent you.

I have since used R3D footage shot without proxies and am using this workflow with no adverse effects. The footage shot with proxies enabled crashes/turns green quite often. I've had to use redrushes and edit offline for a color workflow.

I often have this problem when using native transcoded RED footage in a that is not 1920x1080.

Make sure that "scrub high quality" is off.

Also, if possible, make sure that video playback is disabled, and that there are no other open sequences that are 1920x1080.

Those things have worked for me in the past. Hope that helps.

I am experiencing a similar problem when I try to import Red Footage through the Final Cut L&T window.

Either Final Cut crashes, blaming the RedCode.QT plugin, or it turns all of my clips green. I have tried this on multiple computers as well, and the same thing happens.

I made a video chronicling my problem and posted it on CreativeCow, but so far no one seems to know what the problem is :

I then tried to switch to RedCineX, and a similar thing happened. It either quit unexpectedly, or turned all of the clips black after the first one.

Anyone here have any ideas?

I am having the exact same problem. I've found that the issue appears to be with isolated clips and the resulting "every clip turning green" is effected by the one "corrupted" clip. If you ignore that clip, and import the rest, they look fine.

However, neither me nor my AE can figure what is going on with these particular clips. The RED proxies play fine, the whole clip plays in both RED Alert and L&T before you attempt to import it.

Does ANYONE have a solution. I'm freaking out a little bit here.

Let me start out by saying I am new to RED.
I have Snow Leopard and used RedRushes to make the proxies. There are a few clips that have horizontal lines running through it. Sometimes the lines are green, but mostly it looks like the picture is in horizontal bars that move throughout the image..like when old VHS tapes were getting worn out. Like I said, it is only in some clips. And it doesn't matter if it is in the Viewer or Canvas playback. I deleted render files and restarted FCP 7 and that didn't help. The lines also appear in the proxies. I didn't shoot the footage and I wanted to try and problem solve before contacting the producer to say there's an issue. Any suggestions? Thanks!
