Just wraped week two of a horror/thriller feature. The camera is out standing. The only problem we ever had was having the EVF stuck in 2x zoom mode on playback (which wasn't really a problem since who wathces playback thru the viewfinder when you have 2-3 other monitors on set).
Over 100 degrees on set, camera didn't care at all. Pictures are great. We have the the camera set up like an Arri, we treat it like one, all the ergonomics are great, it's just great. Flies sooooooooooooo nice on steadicam.
I got my pass through voltage meter from Cramped Attic today so we could finally let batteries run down before we changed them, the boot up time has not been an issue.
I make stuff, I understand how much work went into this camera in such a short amount of time. It's just fucking astounding.
Everyone on set loves the camera. Most of my crew on this worked on HBO's The Wire, so we are all used to panavision stuff. My editor (he's on set most of the time) asked me today if money was no object would I shoot on 35mm or Red. I had to think about it for a minute, but the answer was Red.
Heart felt thanks to everyone at Red who made this a reality.
Pics shortly.
