  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

MY looks for scarlet

Actually both, sometimes I import them in to cam sometimes in RCX, and I'm really suprised that no one wants to post theirs, like it's BIG SECRET!!!
I asked couple guys to send me their fav setting so I can test them as well, guess what, they never DID.

Greg did I already send you my looks? I thought I did but sometimes my brain is not current with the rest of my mind.

Lets start Posting them and results so everyone could gain the knowledge and experience the look. I see whole bunch of post how do you get the film look??? yes it is about lighting acting and locations etc... I believe it's mostly RCX Looks for me, I can make my footage look so much different form comedy feel to tension.

my brain is not current with the rest of my mind. that's normal for me

+1 Greg. Great idea. Thanks

Hey Greg! It was great meeting you at the NY get together, umm, awhile ago! I'm actually in the process of putting together a library of looks that I had a few friends put together to start as a base on projects. Will have the site and looks up by next weekend :)

You have two types of people. Those who share and continue to grow, and those that think they have the key to the holly grail and therefore believe these 'hidden' secrets will keep them ahead of the game. But in this current digital age, knowledge is more powerful when shared. You share here you receive there. This is something I posted about in the past here, so I will be posting some of my latest settings soon.

Keep up the good work.

I have a question (or two).. When I open the flat image contained in the zip file in Photoshop, it looks different that the actual R3D file; if I import this R3D file into Photoshop or After effects, is supposed to look the same?, I have a calibrated monitor, and Photoshop (CS6) asks every time I open an image, if I want to use the actual working space, or convert to the embedded one; what gamma did you use before making the zipped JPG?, Am I missing something here?

Well said Antonio.
The real progress in this world started with the invention of PRINT which was the macrocosm of sharing knowledge.

I have looks that I've created but usually these are baselines which really need to be adjusted anyway depending on the shot and the subject.

I don't think people are opposed to sharing their looks, per se, I think it is that looks don't necessarily make much sense out of context of the subject, the lighting, time of day, etc., so I'd lay off the criticism. The way I use looks is to bring in a few early or test shots of whatever is being shot on that day, make Redcine adjustments, and then load the looks into the camera from there. There's usually a good deal of individualized, fine-tuning involved.

Hi

I am also guilty of not sharing looks, because i don't use them.
I do adjustments according to scene and shot, but never save any looks, and don't see the use of that. Thus i have nothing to share.

Usually my stuff goes the simplest of routes, ie direct to finnish, or offline/online...

I try to contribute where I can, but this is a field I have little knowledge of...
I just happen to have a different approach, and thus don't use "looks" for shooting or post.

Cheers and keep it up.
You're def one of the guys which posts i look out for greg
