  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

My First Red Video

Hi Dan. Amazing work. I too came from DSLR and now waiting for my Scarlet W. Your work is an inspiration. Question, for the window scene (where the new generation man sips from the glass, looking out the window). Was that all natural light? Did you use any lighting at all?

Keep up the good work.

I'm glad this was brought back from the past! Super inspiring! Here I was kind of regretting picking up a Scarlet MX last year, but this reminded me what amazing pictures I can get out of it.

It still inspires. Really well done. I'm anxious to see more! It won't be long before I pick up a Scarlet Weapon for myself. Counting the days when I can make beautiful images like yours.

Thanks Jacob! It's great you are having a Scarlet W... I envy you in a good way man hehe. That last scene was done with the natural light from the window but putting a diffuser out of it because the light was too strong (shot around 3pm), then we had a kino bouncing on the room to fill it up and warming it with a CTO.

We shot the video just with 2 kinos, and pure bouncing tools. We shot all the exterior shots from 6am to 10am, then did the interiors and then shot again outside from 5pm to 7pm during two days straight.

Good luck with your projects man!

Yeah man, I had the same issue... bought my first Red camera, the Mx and used and got sad when all the new cameras came out... But I sure believe in what you said, it can still make amazing pictures, I thought a lot about selling it and buying a new one but not anymore, I gotta make some money out of it and it's still rocking.

This was done with a MX model, I bet you will do with the W... thanks a lot for the words, it gives me power to keep working out for more. Cheers!

Hey Carlos, it was shot with a Scarlet X with the 18-50mm from Red too. For that shot we used a steadicam... the glidecam 4000. I actually spiked myself while shooting that hahaha it was painfull but worth it.

some nice shots in there. particularly the dolly or steadicam shot of the man on the horse with the aloe plants ( i think) in the foreground.

which red cam?

No man, just with the hand... but I don't recommend you that... This was our first production with the Red, but for all the other we've either rented a vest or a ronin... much more pleasing and less extra work.
