Ok so im pretty sure I'm the only one left doing this workflow:

4K files in RCPX, grade to my liking in RCP
then export 2K full res debayered prores quicktimes

I then bring into FCP and edit online at 2K.
From FCP I export the 2K or 1080p file to a final master pro-res file....

I see a lot of you guys using proxies, but for me, it just seems like thats a lot of back and forth to make things work. I use color to do grading still as well, and like it for the most part.

I dont have a lot of money, and I run a MacBook Pro 2.26 GHz intel core 2 duo with 8gigs of ram (late 2009 i believe?). I do all my editing online, no proxies.... It seems simple and easy, although it bogs my system on fx if I add in fcp...

Can someone sugjest me a better lighter way of working with proxies that will allow me to edit and not waste much time? I like being able to see at least 1080p files though, I dont like 720p proxies or smaller... Help? I'm stuck in the stone age I know, but its worked well for me for all this time... but now im seeing that with some new projects its time to change to proxies maybe... How do you guys do it, whats your workflow? Thanks!

I would skip the grade then export 1080p proxies from RCXP using pro res proxy. Do your edit in FCP then relink the media.

But how does that effect things like transitions, and other things? (by the way my grade is close to what I set in camera, I put my look for each project in the meta on the red)

what am I re-linking it to exactly?
