HI
I just notice one strange thing with MX sensor i have.
We have a lot of very dark scenes in a movie, we shoot all 800 . In post i try to go higer like 1000-1600 but i have very wide , vertical , purple and blue pass like for 1/5 of the wide of the shot. Most of the time on the same area, sometimes in the middle of the frame, but most of the time on the left side of the frame.
What could be the reason?
Do we push MX too far?
Hot mirror may be do it?
Black promist fllter was use also.

Is the camera right or need to be MX replaced?
Please help , as i need too shoot soon again...

Thank U for interest.
in 2 h i will be in Studio so i will post it. Im a lit bit scary ...I have it on many more shots then i thought in the beginning, all very dark, underexposed.

HI
Please look at the effect i have described bellow:
1 shot 800 Iso
2 shot 2000 Iso in post
3 shot 6400 iso in post

Look at the passes, purple and green or blue. I have compared to od red one, it was a lot of noise but was equal. Now i can see those passes even on native 800. What is wrong?

hi
It is brand new cooke s4i set of lenses:(
Also it is not a filter as in studio i have not use any and still got it.

i do not have ftp to load 70 mb clip at the moment:(
But it looks like the camera is corrupted:( My 2nd works norma.
Not good at all...

Anybody has similar effect to mine presented on jpg's?
ANy info or help will be very valuable.

You could make a single frame (1,9 mb) r3d snapshot in RCX or clipfinder, but if the two cams look way different in this respect, you may have an issue...

Best to contact support and let them diagnose.
It doesn't look normal.

so lets wait. Not good at all...
Looks like some inssue with black shading on red and blue channels, green is fine. Is visible only on low light conditions.
Anybody have use Furance plugin to repair bad color chanel? Is this working well?

We took delivery for 4 MX R1 in early October 2010. All 4 were perfect on delivery. 1 of them started to have the noise band issue after 2-3 weeks. The noise band is always there but shows up alot more when 1)using high ISO 2) low light and dark shade subject. We return the affected camera to RED and it was prompted "repaired". Why the ""? The image look perfect even at 800ISO and IRE 20 image. However, if you bump the ISO is RCX to 6400, you will see the noise band at exactly the same place as before the repair. Can't complained because I don't really use ISO 6400 anyway. Cheers. In short, return your camera for servicing.

BTW we are shooting S3D and the band just pops up immediately when viewing the S3D image on a 46" Miracube 3D monitor. Very nasty stuff.

Opps. Last thing. If you get a yellowish color band from left to right of frame, don't panic. It's only present in the HDSDI and not in the R3D. Just keep restoring R1 to factory default and power cycle the camera. It goes away after a few trial. CHeers.
