  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

MX Dead pixel problem + fix

Hmmm, since all RED cameras have hundreds if not thousands of dead pixels i always thought that this was normal and not a defect.

My RED-M's sensor has so many 'stars' that resembles the milky way.

Since the black shading is masking them away I've learned to live with them. I suspect that this should have some kind of effect on the resolution but 4K is too much anyway.

Is the MX sensor more susceptible to hot pixels?

Then I feel pretty good to have only one tiny dead pixel. Black shading is the answer, problem solved. Thanks guys.

Exactly how would one know if they have a dead pixel when out on the set shooting? Or the line issue, for that matter?

I sure would have to come back from a shoot and realize that everything we shot was ruined because of a sensor issue we couldn't see on the LCD. This is especially the case for those of us on really small shoots who don't have the ability to look at dailies.

Thanks.

Stephen
