Since I seem to be the unreasonable, demanding "goat" on this one, let me just jump in and make a quick comment.
I have bought a lot of kit on the used market and most of it works perfectly in every respect. Great transactions all around. But if I've learned one thing over the past several years, it is that in those cases where the seller specifically says to me "It works great, but it is being sold, 'as is,'" any reasonable soul will have to pass on the opportunity, especially with regards to items as finicky as 20-year-old lenses and electronics.
Sellers unwilling to offer the right to return (less postage, of course) are almost certainly slicing off a very large piece of the potential market. And that's their right.
As for Evolve's lens, according to my REDUser PM file (which I just now checked), it was LAST WEEK that we discussed it. I don't know how long it takes Evolve to count his pennies, but it takes me a lot more than a day or two to count mine. I've got a lot of irons in the fire just now and a lot of options I need to carefully consider. Long gone are the days when I'd just jump at the first decent deal that passed me by.
