  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Music Video Shot on Scarlet/ Super Speeds

Liked the silhouette stuff, gorgeous!! Car stuff wasn't bad either. Nice comps throughout.

Couple of things i noticed:

Watch the green spike with low CRI rated LED's as they really throw skin-tones.

Guessing the production company didn't pull permits and why you had to go hand-held with him walking down the street. In my opinion they put too much post IS on those shots. You can really see the BG distorting and it becomes very distracting.

Hey Chris thanks for your feedback,Yea I agree with you on the over IS shots I was pretty bummed when I saw those. I wasn't really liking the over exposed look of the daylight street stuff either. No permits haha I was on a skateboard getting pulled from my shoulders on all the street stuff. Those cheap China LED lights are awesome but yea they do throw the skin tones way off. Do you know a way of fixing that in post?

Well on set, add minus green (magenta) filters to the LED's, should do the trick. In post, would have to mask the skintones, then pull out some of the green from the green channel. Can push red/blue to help as well. Resolve would do this easy.

Not bad. Quite a few really great shots in there, but then there are a lot of shots that look like DSLR. I think part of the reason I'm thinking some looked like DSLR is The IS distortion that was mentioned earlier. Also, I know you have little to nothing to do with this as the DP, but there is absolutely no story. I like music videos to to have a story, but thats just my taste. The shot with Ghostface in there was cool. It seems like he was put there on purpose, I liked it.
