A few weeks back we built a set and shot a video in Pittsburgh, PA for a band called Since October (Tooth & Nail Records). The look we wanted to achieve required us to shoot greenscreen so we could get the background we wanted.

artist: Since October
label: Tooth & Nail Records
director: Endeavor Media Group
effects/color: Allan Stallard at Animal

We'd love to hear feedback and we'll do our best to answer any questions, although most questions would probably be better answered by the tech's on the shoot

We'd love feedback!

Nice work man, looks great. Love that the video ends where it does, (before the happy reunion).

The color palette works awesome, I'm pumped.

Where'd you use the greenscreen?

Any camera/lens info you want to post, I'm sure would be appreciated.

very nice footage.

very nice footage.

good work. Love the lighting (im guessing alot of bounce?) and the color palette really lift the the end when you see the woman open her green eyes. couldnt spot the green screen either - so job well done:)

respect from Denmark!:)

nice video!, love the look and feel. nice job on the compositing and integration..
that's a lot of shots to comp by the look of it... only comment would be some of the shot tracking of the background "swims" a little bit on some of the shots...
what did you use the track the footage with?

the lighting/look is fantastic. love it.

the grading/tracking was done in a smoke suite at Animal (www.animalspots.com) by Allan Stallard - a regular on the forums here.

Hmm. Well when the background is at ground level and right outside the door it should lock right in. When we are looking out the window or higher outside the door we are seeing quite far in the distance ... hence the paralax or "swimming". Granted we took liberties as to mathematically how far the city scape was and how much paralax there would be.

The green screen was everywhere outside the back wall. All the smoky devastation is one background plate.

Just looked again at the spot.. once again gotta say it looks damn sweet.
I think the only shot that really shows any tracking issue is (frame 1099-1135. or 00:00:45 > 00:00:47 ) and I I'm splitting hairs anyhow, just finished a show with lots and lots of tracking, makes you hypersensitive.. hehe.
again great work!

Looked really good. That last shot with the girls eyes looked really sweet.

The eyes where masked tracked and graded separately. For a lot of what I color I use the masking and layering tools in smoke generously...

Now I'm going to have to take a look it again! :usd:

Great work all around! Congrats! A little more variety in focal lengths would have added to the overall feel of the piece, since the camera (understandably) doesn't travel very much. I know this adds more complexity to the tracking work and overall comp, but I'm an optimist. I think great things can always be made better. :-)

Simply put- FANTASTIC!

Damn! I love the grading as well. Very very very awesome

Hey Fred! Good to see you! I still have an old sweater of your's that I never had the chance to give back...maybe when I come to Oslo to visit!

It's been a fantastic experience working with Danny & Steve of Endeavor. We've finished 14 music videos in the last year and they have all been on HVX until this first Red one. What a difference! Keying on HVX was miserable. Now it's a happy time. We also did one commercial that was shot on the Phantom. Some incredible slow-mo. http://iendeavormedia.com/video/aia/aia.html

If anyone get's a chance check out some of the other work before Red arrived here's the link.

First class work. Beautiful! A couple of questions:

What shutter speed did you shoot with? The image doesn't suffer any smear or judder.

What lenses did you shoot with?

Again, great work.
