This is a music video I directed last spring. I also did all the VFX, all done in After Effects. The whole production took about three weeks to complete. Made in Sweden by Crazy Pictures. Sorry for the bad Youtube compression.

Not bad. The tracking for the green screen work seems a little rough on some shots. Colors seem appropriate for the mood of the song... but some of the shots seemed a little soft compared to the rest of your work. The CG FX stood out a bit. At 2:34 there is a CG blast that is purely fire, but every blast before that was just smoke... and right after this fire blast there are more that are just smoke. I like the CG FX towards the end when the blast are a mix... it looks more realistic this way.

Don't let my critique discourage you in anyway. You are very creative, like to push the qualities of the digital medium, and seem to have a solid understanding of storytelling and trying new things. I only think you need to work towards fine-tuning a little more. I saw your reel and I definitely liked what I saw. Keeping doing what you are doing and the finer details should fall into place.

Thanks! Unfortunately, I had only access to DetFilms HD stockfootage för the explosions, and it was hard to get it to match up with red material. It was pretty badly shot, it was filmed against a sky that had approximately the same color as the explosion. I wish I would had time to shot my own explosions, but I didn't. The second reason is that I only had two weeks to finished all the VFX, and most of the time went to do all the boring roto.
