so....

It NEVER fails... whenever I finally get the approval to order a piece of equipment... B&H photo is closed for some random period of time for some random reason... it's literally happened for the past two years...

i'm left with two choices... wait a few days to order... or go with another company...

not saying that B&H care about losing any of our business... our media equipment budget is laughable for the amount of work we do and the results that we're expected to produce... so... it's no sweat off their back..

its just Murphy's law... when i finally get the approval to order something from them (we have to use a "reputable" vendor)... they are closed...

if you have any murphy's law stories... i'd love to hear them...

It's not random to them. They observe Jewish holidays - religiously (lol) - and they post it very prominently on their web site as each approaches. Sounds like you are a master of bad timing on this issue.

Like others have said - Not Random… at all. Plus they give all of us who don't follow the Jewish calendar a lot of advance notice. They even 'close' their webstore for the weekly Sabbath.

I applaud their dedication to their faith, and pretty much abhor your lack of understanding.

Actually, B&H as well as Adorama among other companies in NY have anything BUT random schedule. They operate in very strict accordance with Jewish Law, as they are owned by orthodox Jews. Consult Jewish Holidays, if you're unsure about their schedule. And they always close down at sundown on Friday.
Couple of people beat me to it:-)

You're right. People are so ungrateful.

Not long ago I missed out on a job because my personal Goddess (The Tooth Fairy) told me one night I should not work for the entire week! And people just didn't understand my personal relationship with The Tooth Fairy. I told them to delay the shoot but they didn't listen.

How can I live in a world like this?

I am not religious and I am not Jewish but it seems a little respect is in order.

Hey you got a week off, and your potential client...
