  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

multi cam simutaneous trigger?

Can you provide more info about your scenario? Any reason why they "need" to be triggered all at once?

Or would jamming the same time code to multiple REDs do the trick in post?

Basically yes.

1, multiple start/stop via wire or wireless, yes.
2, Sync shutter and time code, yes.

Depends on your application how you achieve it.

I too am curious about this. The situation I have is that the camera may be separated by large distances (possibly up to a kilometer). Running wires/cables between them would not be practical as we only a couple hours to set up and get the shots and bug out. What I have kind of envisioned is to have a GPS receiver generating a 1 pulse per second signal (off of the common gps time) that I'd in turn generate a 24, 30, or 60 Hz signal from to feed into the camera somehow.

I'm not too familiar with video technology. But, is there some way to generate a genlock signal from that? Or can the camera take an external trigger signal (5 volt TTL) to trigger camera integration?

No need to reinvent the wheel here!

On each camera a Lockit box is connected to the Genlock and TC in on the RED.

Set RED to genlock and JAM sync mode.

Simply use a master clock to JAM sync all the Lockits.

The Lockits then produce TC with Tri Level Sync, so TC and shutter stay synced on each camera without any wired or wireless connection between them.

I have looked after this type of setup with the REDs on set many times, so can go into more detail if you have a specific job.
