I just got an email from Freefly about the Movi Carbon. Looks like they've integrated a GH5s and a Fujinon XK 20-120mm into their new rig. Sounds cool for aerial stuff. but 45k? That seems unreasonable for that sensor. Anyone else seen this? There's supposed to be a big announcement tomorrow night 8/2 at 11pm PST. For me, this would be reasonable if they put a RED Raven on this thing... but a GH5? Who is this for??? I'd rather do an Inspire 2 with the Zemuse X7 RAW.

Thoughts? Am I wrong?

Oh that's interesting, wasn't it an a7s2+24-240 when they announced it? I guess they wanted more robust internal recording formats? Gh5s does have better remote operation controls I think.

The gh5s produces superior images. Red Raven (dragon) is seriously outdated and overpriced at this point.

I'm not a fan of the RED Raven at all, but the GH5s being a better imaging camera is debatable. Raw + better dynamic range/color is superior to the dual-iso and low light performance of the GH5s. The DJI x7 though does look to be a really good sensor and there's not much reason to get this over the x7 unless you need zoom.

The Raven I do agree is an overpriced camera relative to the Ursa Mini Pro and C200 for what it offers. Scarlet-W is barely more expensive.

Yeah, it is debatable, but the GH5S is at least a great enough camera it is close enough to be in the same ballpark. Not at all an inappropriate choice for a very small sized camera to use in a $45K rig.

US$3.5K is a lot more extra to spend, except yeah once you're already spending $9K for the Raven brain then it doesn't seem like that much more at all!

But it is a slippery slope.... where does it stop, why not just then get the Gemini for "only" another US$7K more? If you're already spending US$12.5K!

I think what they are asking is a bit much, but you are getting a great lens for sure. I feel like a Carbon XL will come out soon, maybe even NAB that will be based on a RED system and maybe more of Shotover type of deal. Only time will tell thats for sure. I would for one, as a Raven owner, love to see a set up like this for my Raven.

Though on a side note I have to wonder why no one has made a box like this that has two axis insde of it that you can fit on a Ronin 2 or Movi Pro or Movi XL already? Maybe I dont fully understand how it works, but to me its a gimbal inside a gimbal. One fixes small amounts of shake and one does larger amounts of force.
