Im just looking at how much cameras would cost with the accessories to see what would be best for me.. comparing to other cameras

To mount the Redmote, you need a v mount correct?
I dont want to use the touch monitor. Ive used it before and didnt like the mounting options and the swivel part. If it mounted like a normal monitor, i would. I want the EVF and monitor but control the camera through the redmote.

With V Mount batteries on the rig, the redmote would be in an awkward spot.
So, I thought of this. Have a V-Mount on the battery so the redmote is on the battery.
Then I found this... Instead of the redmote on the camera as in the pic, mount it ON the actual battery:

The v-mount on the camera and redmote is not the same as the v-mount on the battery. So unless someone makes an adapter this will not work unfortunately.
EDIT: Yep what Jason said :)

It works quite well with a noga arm if you power it with a d-tap adapter or another solution.

I'd reconsider the RED Touch if I were you. There are a lot of ways you can mount it and and, IMO, it is the best way to control the camera.

The redmote has not exactly been dependable. It is great for things like cranes or semi remote locations (when it works). The touch screen is great and the side handle is great to navigate the camera. And they are much quicker.

I keep my REDMote in my pocket - not attached to the camera… It is a remote after all. But I also have the accessory v mount in the link above - that I attach to the directors monitor stand so I can use it remotely from the viewing area.

It can -- no wait -- it will let you down eventually, unless your only use is having it attached to the body (either directly or through the double / quad battery module) of the camera so it can pass all info through the pins. The touch monitor is the way to go, and the side handle has a lot of followers as well (though my side handle hasn't left it's case in over a year or more).

Just to inject a note of optimism here - lol - I have never had my REDmote let me down. I don't always use it but whenever I have, it has preformed without a glitch; albeit always within a 10-15 feet of the camera or so. Just one (apparently lucky) man's perspective.

Installing the latest Beta this afternoon… always optimistic that the update will 'fix' the glitch in my REDMote.
