I'm running a 6' cable to the Red drive which I want to mount on my hip. Is there a particular bag or device people are using to accomplish this so I can mount the drive on my side?

I found some radio holsters/pouches, but none of them seem to fit the dimensions for the Red drive, which is 6 x 3.5 x 1.5.

Advice is appreciated! Thanks!

I think it would be ok if you were slow dancing, but not of for a more latin groove, and mosh-pit ENG work is out of the question. :)

Don't do it, why risk it.

Really? I was kind of worried about drop frames, but I thought I heard other people at some point saying they had done this. I guess I can use the 6' cable I just purchased to hang myself.

Don't do it mang! But if you are through with this crewel world just make sure and mail me your rig first. I'll gladly pay for shipping. :)

You SHOULD be fine if you are very careful... the only way to find the threshold and see if it is good enough for you is to test.

Just mount it on the camera and use one of Element technica's shock mounts. CF cards for the crazy stuff.

I have the drive on my hip, in a small bag or a backpack. They all work. No dropped frames so far. But, needless to say: move smoothly! :)

I have been planning on getting (putting together) a shoulder holster for the RED drive. With a relatively more body hugging placement in a low movement location of the body, would be better, IMHO.

just test it and let us know if you had problems.

the long drive cable is very useful...

Mounting your drive on your body is not a bad idea in many situations...

the drive seems to park its heads with tiny very fast movement. for example a spinteck rain deflector makes recording impossible if the drive is hard mounted to the camera. Also I had a tattoo gun (not the moving part) touch my matte box the other day and cause dropped frames ..

on the the other hand fast aggressive hand-held seems not to dropframes...

test and report back?

good luck
