  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Mounting Red Camera on Sachtler Tripod

Hi...pricey though. I'd love to see the detailed photos of this system. Can I take the RED base production pack off my list to save some money if I buy this ET system? Only then needing to buy the rods, battery/Red Drive cradle and some handles? I'm using a Sachtler tripod.

if you want upper rods.....add 2xtopmount/top handle

I spoke with ET and apparently they are producing their dovetails with additional screw holes, allowing this to be easily attached to Sachtler quick release plates.

I want to confirm this 100% before ordering though.

The Cine 30 tripod is lovely and in my own humble opinion is the prefect tripod for the Red, unfortunately we're on a budget and managed to secure a used Video 25 for a good price.

Had a discussion earlier about ET's shoulder pad that they talked about several months back. I think this was to attach easily onto their Arri Bridge plate - anyone heard anything more on this? I think they would sell LOTS of these if they work well and are comfortable.

Best wishes

Scott

Hi, if you have RED base production pack ,you can choose my dovetail plate. It works fine on Sachtler tripod also cheaper than other system.

Thanks for the pics...the bottom rods are from ET too? I take it they are extra? So to go handheld the base just releases from the tripod? Does that mean you don't use any kind of shoulder pad?

Here is my old Red setup with sachtler video20.

Hi there

We have just received our Red camera and plan to use this with a Sachtler Video 25 tripod. This tripod features the usual Sachtler quick release plate and I'm wondering what's the most efficient way of mounting the Red to this?

I'm thinking that the "best" method is to attach the Red bottom plate to the camera and then attach the Red Cheese Plate to the base of this and then screw the Sachtler base plate onto this and attach the quick release plate to the tripod.

Would the Element Technica base plates be compatible with the Sachtler Video 25? If so which one would be best? This looks to me to be a much more robust and easy to use method of mounting the camera.

Any Sachtler/Red users able to help out here?

Many thanks

Besy wishes

It isn`t ET production ,there is RED bottom plate with Allstar dovetail plate. If you want a hand-held shot, you can quick transit from the Allstar dovetail plate to RED shoulder dovetail.
Allstar dovetail plate can adjust balance after changing lenes, cheese plate can`t.
