For those of you who are swapping between Red PL, Wicked Circuits, Red Nikon or Birger mounts, since you have to change the Red's back focus adjuster for the all but the Birger (and Nikon?), is it possible to create a mark and accurately return to it if you want to go back to PL, or does it need to go back to the shop.

I'm trying to figure out if the Birger mount has an advantage on swaps because it has it's own back focus adjuster in it and therefor leaves your PL setting intact when you return to the PL mount. Any feedback from actual mount swappers appreciated.

Andy (Wicked Circuits) actually recommends to make these markings during the installation, so yes you can do it (unless you need to disassemble the whole BF mount.)

I may be wrong, but my understanding is that the Birger mount removes more than the Nikon or Wicked Circuits one, suggesting that going back to PL is actually harder on the Birger than on the other mounts. This is also a reason for the warranty problems Birger experienced.

Yes, that's right. With the Birger you remove the whole BF assembly because the Birger mount has its own. I think Erik once said in a post ages ago that that allowed you to retain your PL BF setting whenever you put it back on, because the adjuster's position is never moved. Just wondering if this is an issue with Andy's mount, or whether the same spot can be accurately found again using your mark.

Reinstalling the PL mount from Birger is, so far, far from safe untill some good genius explain the proper procedure to avoid pinching the wire that connect to the i/pins.
From Nikon mount , I do not know, who knows ?

Birger talked about making their own PL mount, for quick swap with their Canon. Here's a link, that was a year ago.

"if one is going to be swapping mounts all of the time, he can use a Birger PL mount, which we will announce in a week or two. We may offer other mounts in the future."

This hasn't happened yet. I guess Birger have enough to deal with getting the Canon mount out the door.
