I've often had use for making panoramas with motion - lately. Are there any good automatic tools for stitching video?

Haven't ever heard of any... try about 30% overlap when shooting and use a warp tool/soft edges or find a good place for a seam, like the edge of a building

Hmm, a nice plugin exporting the warps and layer positioning from e.g. Autopano to After Effects would be useful. Automatic image sticking gives a lot for free. Straight horizon and geometrically correct panoramas, based on the input sensor size and focal length.

Masking can then be done comfortable and manually in After Effects - knowing that the geometry is correct. It would be nice.

could export a sequence then use a photoshop action possibly? or just use a huge comp in AfterEffects with plenty of feathering

What about using a circular fisheye shooting upright and converting to cylindrical ? It would give you at least a hemisphere with motion.

I guess the easiest way is to do a still panorama in a stitching software to get geometry and scale correct, based on the input of lens and sensor characteristics. Then re-do the panorama manually in After Effects. Placing and distorting the layers to match their underlying still.

A lot of manual labor for something that should/could have been done automatically...

what i posted was more of a interactive video panorama....

if you do it the old fashioned way there will be a few things to consider...

1. lens distortion, as you overlap..remove lens distortion first
2. use a difference matte operation to help you align

other then that it should be completely doable
