I know ... this is shot on Epic ...but:
since Maestro Ridley Scott won't be using the already overused 300fps just because he can
(unlike tons of RED-Users celebrating their SloMo-Fetish) and let's suppose he won't be on a
better Raw-Code than 6:1 ... couldn't we just say: This is what a scarlet can look like ...
at least just a little bit ;-))

(i know: 5k vs 4k ... its just a little wishing comparison ... cause i'm totally freaked
about PROMETHEUS and can't believe i get a tool that is soo close the capabilities of
what Scott is using. Now we just have to spend our next 120 years behind the camera
saving up scott-like experience and millions of $ along the way and we can step
into the arena with the maestro ... or maybe not ;-)

True. But as an old dp-veteran who shot most of the shots in alien himself ridley probably can't leave his hands of the new toys the camera departement brought in ;-)

The unfortunate thing about the hollywood arena is that its all about connections and its rather a "closed off industry" there are filmmakers doing beautiful work in 1080p,2k,4k and 5k...... very high end work

but now we ask the question: how many are distributed theatrically?

Budget..... millions can buy a lot of value into a film

Creativity....there are those that managed to get distribution on their mini DV and HD Cams, but what is the percentage

Just being realistic here and not negative

you can achieve if you believe but one must also determine and plan for realistic goals

never mind ... i already made that decision years ago ... i'm not gonna run behind that carrot. I got all my equip only for my own pleasure ... and from time to time i shoot some ads to buy a new piece of gear ;-) i got enough hollywood in my dvd-shelfs ;-)
