  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I'm pretty new to RED and wanted to make sure that this was a normal thing. Some of my folders contain two R3ds of the same shot with different file sizes. Can someone please explain what this is and why it doesn't happen most of the time? I didn't shoot any HDRx footage. This is from a Scarlet on 3.07.

Thanks,
Matt

Normal. After a clip size grows to a certain value ( two gig?), it rolls on into another file. When importing and opening in RCX or any editor, the multiple files look and act like a single file.

Keep all the files and the same folder structure from the camera when backing up.

I think it's a FAT 32 drive formatting thing. 2gig max file size. I'm sure I'm over simplifying. By the way, it's much easier to import r3d files into Premiere through the Media Browser as opposed to using the import file command.
