  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

more renders...

I have said before how important Jarred is to the RED program. I'll say it again.

Now... good night. Big day tomorrow.

Jim

My hat is off for the Red team.

My hat is off for the Red team.

What more can I say.
Even a novice like me can see that what the RED team are doing is nothing short of enormous. And then it is LEGO all the way from the lowest tier, that gives even me hope of joining and growing without throwing gear away.

Thanks Jim and Red team.

I guess I am showing my age here, but I haven't had anything cause me to loose so much sleep in years!

I come from the photography side, don't know anything about making movies. But I see the future here. Canon and Nikon will be trying to play catch-up for a long time to come!

Love coming home to these renders Jim!

Was thinking about your brains (no pun intended) tonight and was wondering about the absence of a physical shutter/mirror and how this could expose the imager to a lot of potential debris. Is there some sort of system in your designs that would protect the interior of the imager box when a lens is removed? A spring loaded shutter? A piece of glass? Something? Getting sand or whatever else is flying around in the gate with 35 is one thing because you can always blow it out and load a fresh mag... scratching the imager though poses a whole new, and more expensive, set of problems.

Too early to be asking this?

Where is the power button? Will we be able to power on/off remotely?

Woffff!,

There isn´t a quiet night there in california?

Congrats!

Amazing!!!

On the picture above I'm just "meditating" about RED1 and Scarlet specs and look.

Hopefully Scarlet and Epic with both S35 & FF35 will have a "friendly" third party mount upgrade (!?).

Umm - what did he mean by 'big day tomorrow?'

Are they announcing Epic's successor? Mysterium Z?

Ben

Thank you Jim. After watching Godfather Part II, I come online to this?
Beautiful.

Sanjin

Do you always keep your camera mounted like that?

You crazy man..

Us Kalifornians know better with all of our quakes & hippy fur

Where can one of those new Red shoulder pads be bought, are they available yet ?

thanks,

Dave

REDmote camera control concern

REDmote camera control concern

Hmm just wondering - what happens if someone goes to lunch with the Redmote in their pocket?
The only other control panel on the camera seems to be the REDhandle, which seems to be stuck onto the right side of the Brain (the DUMB SIDE OF THE BRAIN, no less), in a position that's very vulnerable to damage, being grabbed by grips, and it widens the camera in a way that might sometimes be an issue.
You could seriously damage the brain if it gets thumped, and is in a position that's not great for the operator to get to if you're on a head, and even if you're handheld, unless you're shooting stills.
The rear Rec button hardly ever gets used on my Red Ones.
The only way to mount the REDmote on the left side seems to be with a bracket off the rails, which could be a PITA.
One more thing - is the REDhandle also operated only wirelessly? Seems to be, on the renders.
You'd REALLY want to know that you have no interference problems, and its batteries are charged, or you're F'd.

Or use the Origo :whistling:

Mark, you've changed on your avatar since I saw you a few weeks ago.

The Origo only gives you on/off.
The Redmote and the Redhandle have all the controls you absolutely need.
The options announced are ok, but you've basically got keep a Redmote stuck to the camera, on the left side, IMHO. It's a shame it'll get moved every time you play with the top rails.

J Jannard chose a new Avatar for me this afternoon- he just didn't get my last one, but I didn't want to let him win, so I changed it to the current one. Not sure if I like this one, though. It's a complex issue.
