Where's the flash go on that badboy? Offset with a bracket perhaps?

Cool. Looks like the offspring from an slr and medium format mating. I'm really wondering how it will feel. I like my slr because I can just pick it up and go. And a medium format feels solid and balanced when cupped in two hands and you're peering down at the screen. I guess you can switch out the vf for an lcd that can angle in any direction?

It really is in between the two... not bad for a rig that can shoot legitimate motion.

Got a estimated weight on that bad boy, Jim? (promise you won't make it shiny) ;)

It seems like a lot of the people who criticize the DSLR replacement model like to focus on the idea that a still photographer should buy a still camera and a motion photographer should buy a motion camera.

I don't think they really grasp the concept that with the DSMC you can shoot in motion and extract the 'perfect' still from your motion frames (reserving the 'still' mode for long exposures or special creativity).

Or... you can set up your "stills settings", and then your "motion settings" and switch between the two.

Have you made a mock up? I know you're an experienced shooter yourself so I would trust your assessment on how it feels.

Or better yet, prototypes by NAB 2009 that I'll be able to manhandle? I'll put in my hotel reservations now if you say yes (I wasn't planning on going to NAB next year).

Are you going to use the same glass in both "motion" and "still" glass?

I guess the housings won't be the same as still needs AF and a rubber focus ring, and motion would be 0.8 gear and longer focus throw... but the glass?

Wouldn't it be great if you could design modular lenses? Like change the housings to suit still or motion work? Then one wouldn't have to invest in two sets of lenses I guess?

Then you would change the camera AND the lens market, wow :)

Yes, that's the right way to do it. You won't be able to pull proper stills while shooting in true motion mode. Well thought out. Sweet.

what about some nice QTVR Jim?
